My Messinia

Messinia-My olive tree valley

Welcome to Messinia, a region which surprsingly has been little known to contemparary travellers and yet it is one of the most mezmerising places on Earth. I call this area an olive tree valley…as it is covered with olive tree groves “as far as the eye can see”.

I am certain that my olive tree valley has not really changed much for hundreds of years and these aged old trees have commanded the area now and then. The olive trees only stop where they encounter the sea and the mountains only chalange them to go on in more arduous ways. It is an area full of wonders: seductive shores and endless beaches, mesmeric waterfalls, verdant gorges, picturesque villages, castles and ancient sites. However their beauty does not matter here as much as the beauty of the olive tree….and here its beauty is multiplied by hundreds of thousands.
